Founder's Story

Naomi grew up in small-town Ontario, where imagination and adventure was a way of life.  Long rides, dirt roads and wide-open afternoons taught her how to make something from nothing—and to trust her instincts. That small-town spirit carried her through every reinvention, from city life to the wide horizons of the West, where new challenges became new beginnings and the dream kept unfolding.

Taking Action

To Ground & Boost Energy

Naomi’s path didn’t begin in the North. It started in the pulse of the city — bright screens, long hours, and a mind that never stopped turning. After years of running a digital media company, burnout asked her to pause and listen.

Yoga offered that pause. It became a steady thread in her life — one that led her to study in India and with teachers across North America who continue to shape her practice today.

A Leap of Faith

From City to Wilderness

Naomi traded the rush of downtown Toronto for the adventure of Northwest BC.  The shift was eye-opening and liberating.

Drawn by a lifelong love of horses, she signed up for a Wilderness Guiding and Wrangling course—no backcountry experience, just heart.  There, she learned how to pack horses, dress wild game and find her way in the wild.

To balance the demands of her consulting and project-management career, she spent three seasons wrangling—trading office deadlines for remote camps, hard weather, and the kind of deep, honest exhaustion that works like a reset.

Building a Dream

Embracing the Simple Life

When she least expected it, Naomi met her cowboy—Carmen, the Outfitter who hired her to wrangle in the northern territory. In time, they carved out a life together on 35 acres of raw land near Smithers—fence by fence, board by board. They called it The Black Horse Ranch.

A small home, a studio, a barn, gardens, dogs, and horses—an ever-evolving place that keeps growing and taking shape with the people who tend it.

Following Your Heart

Connecting with Community

Through yoga and movement, Naomi found new ways to gather women—to breathe, move and reconnect under open skies.  That seed became Yoga Cowgirl Co.—a circle of retreats and workshops blending yoga, horses, creativity and good food.  Each gathering a reminder:  we rise stronger when we rise together— and taking time for yourself in a supportive, fun environment is where true renewal begins.

This wellness company offers dynamic retreats and workshops that blend yoga, outdoor activities, creative arts, holistic prac
Raising sheep and growing lavender showed Naomi the ups and downs of farming. Inspired by this, she launched Little Lamb Lave

Seeds of Hope

For the Love of Lavender & Lambs

Farming brought its own lessons—sheep, lavender and the long rhythm of the land.  From that came 'Little Lamb Lavender' and the realization that caring for the earth and for ourselves are one and the same.

It taught her patience, fortitude and acceptance—qualities every cowgirl comes to know.

Embracing Simple & Clean

In time, the story evolved.  Naomi earned her Advanced Diploma in Organic Cosmetic Science and poured years of learning into something new— a line of skincare inspired by the region, crafted for women who give their all and sometimes forget to pause.

Cowgirl’s Friend was born from that space between effort and ease.  Simple, science-backed and grounded in care that goes beyond skin.  For women who weather life with grit and still find beauty in the dust — because the trail keeps changing and so do we.

Little Lamb Lavender has evolved into the next chapter, re-branding as Cowgirl's Friend.
