The Cowgirl Spirit
Here's a little story of how Naomi came to embrace the western lifestyle.
She's a career-woman-turned yoga teacher, entrepreneur, wrangler and farmer who
lives in the Driftwood Valley near the small northern town of Smithers, BC.

Taking Action
To Ground & Boost Energy
Naomi, once a Web company owner during the dot com boom, discovered yoga's therapeutic benefits at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre and Yoga Space in Toronto. She found an affirmative life grounding force through Yoga and it has become a guiding thread and anchor in her life. It led her to study in India as well as teachers in North America who continue to inspire her practice and teaching style today.

A Leap of Faith
From City to Wilderness
Seeking a quieter life, Naomi moved to Northwest BC. At first, she experienced a bit of culture shock, but soon fell in love with the region's quirks and characters. Despite having no backcountry experience, her love for horses led her to enroll in a Wilderness Guiding and Wrangling course at Coast Mountain College. She learned how to pack horses, use firearms, provide wilderness first aid and harvest wild game. Naomi spent three seasons as a wrangler, living in remote and extreme conditions, caring for horses and guests and loving (almost) every moment.

Building a Dream
Embracing the Simple Life
About 12 years ago, Naomi met and later married her husband, an Outfitter and cowboy extraordinaire. Together, they bought 35 acres of raw land outside Smithers. Over the years, they’ve turned it into a hobby farm called 'The Black Horse Ranch', complete with a house, studio shop, barn, gardens, fences, and pastures for their horses and sheep.

Following Your Heart
Connecting with Community
Fueled by her love for adventure and self-care, she started Yoga Cowgirl Co., a wellness company providing dynamic retreats and workshops that blend yoga, outdoor activities, creative arts, holistic practices and amazing food. Through this work, she’s found a deeper sense of purpose and community that's truly enriched her life.

Seeds of Hope
For the Love of Lavender & Lambs
Raising sheep and growing lavender has shown Naomi the ups and downs of farming. In 2021, she launched Little Lamb Lavender, creating products with a mission to help people feel their best through the power of lavender. To this day, the journey has taught her many lessons in fortitude, patience and resourcefulness, all great qualities of a cowgirl.

Cowgirl's Resilience
Embracing Strength and Flexibility
After three years of development and a lot of learning including an Advanced Diploma in Organic Cosmetic Science from Formula Botanica, Little Lamb Lavender has evolved into a new chapter, re-branding as Cowgirl's Friend. Naomi is proud to introduce Cowgirl's Friend as a trusted sidekick in skincare that blends a love for the Western lifestyle with a passion for helping busy women feel their best. The mission is simple: to leave your skin as radiant and resilient as your spirit.
