It Started With a Plot Twist
& a Few Lavender Seeds
After years of pouring my heart and soul into my career, I was laid off. Suddenly, I found myself at a midlife crossroads, wondering what the heck I was going to do next.
That Christmas, my husband gave me a few packages of lavender seeds. I planted them, nurtured the seedlings and tucked them into the ground here in Northern BC. The lavender took off—and sparked something in me, too.
I began experimenting with infusions and making simple skincare inspired by lavender’s calming qualities. Curiosity grew into a full-on passion. I researched, took courses, connected with experts and eventually earned an Advanced Diploma in Organic Cosmetic Science.
At the same time, my own skin was changing. I wanted products that offered real hydration and visible results, felt beautiful to use and didn’t require an elaborate routine. By bringing nutrient-rich botanicals together with ingredients such as Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, Goldrush Serum was born.
What first felt like an ending became the beginning of Cowgirl’s Friend—a skincare and lifestyle brand for women finding their way through change with grit, curiosity and a sense of humour.
