Sustainable Farming Practices

1. Cover Cropping: Planting cover crops, like legumes or grasses, during fallow periods helps to improve soil health, increase organic matter and capture carbon.

2. Conservation Agriculture: This approach includes minimal tillage or no-till farming, maintaining permanent soil cover, and crop rotation, which all help to reduce soil erosion, retain moisture and build up carbon in the soil.

3. Agroforestry: Integrating trees with farming systems, such as leaving trees on the edges of fields or establishing windbreaks, can improve carbon sequestration and biodiversity.

4. Rotational Grazing: Rotating livestock through different pasture areas allows for better management of grazing pressure and helps to fertilize the soil.

5.  Water Conservation:   By collecting rainwater runoff from the barn's metal roof and storing it in an underground storage tank, it not only conserves water but is a highly efficient water and nutrient delivery system through drip irrigation.
