A Rocky Road to Grounded Living

ree

What is holistic skincare? It’s a mindset. It’s about slowing down, tuning in and choosing products and practices that support your whole being—skin, body and spirit.

I didn’t always get this. For many years, I was caught in hustle culture, measuring my worth by how busy I was—seeking validation through constant grinding, chasing accomplishments, and burning the candle at both ends. My motto was “work hard, play hard,” which often meant dancing the night away after a long week—only to end up feeling even more drained and exhausted. It was a vicious cycle.

The day I lost my contract role in emergency management with the regional government, something shifted. I’d been so wrapped up in performing, producing, and proving myself that I’d lost sight of who I really was. Standing at a crossroads—uncertain, but open—I knew I wanted to do something meaningful, something that would help both myself and others. That summer, while harvesting lavender from my garden, an idea began to take root. From that quiet moment, this company was born—starting with just a few simple products and a whole new way of living.

What started as a small act of healing became a deeper exploration of care—care that nourishes not just the skin, but the whole self. That’s what led me to holistic skincare. Holistic skincare is less about “miracle creams” and more about creating rituals that restore you—inside and out. Here’s why it works:

Whole-Body Wellness

Skin health doesn’t stop at the surface. When I started drinking less alcohol (no judgment—but that’s what my constitution needed), spending less time in front of a screen, getting more sleep, and trading some of that digital noise for fresh air and horse time, my skin noticed. It’s all connected. Glowing skin is often just a reflection of what’s happening inside.

Built-In Stress Relief

Now, skincare is my reset button. A few deep breaths while applying oil, a quiet moment with a Gua Sha tool, a little face yoga while driving—these small pauses ground me in the middle of a busy day.

Planet-Friendly and Purposeful Choices

The deeper I got into holistic skincare, the more I started caring about where my ingredients came from, how they were sourced and how they performed. I began choosing high-performing, results-driven ingredients that were still natural—and wherever possible, sourced from Canadian companies with ethical, transparent values.

Custom Fit for You

One of the best things? You get to make it your own. For me, that looks like an aloe-infused mist after riding in the wind, arnica scrub for sore hands and a hyaluronic serum with vitamin C and sea buckthorn for nightly regeneration. What works for you might be totally different—and that’s the beauty of it.

Nature Knows Best

There’s something satisfying about knowing exactly what’s in your skincare. Herbs, oils, clays—nature offers so much. These ingredients don’t just sound pretty—they work. And for sensitive skin like mine, knowing I’m using gentle, time-tested botanicals brings a sense of trust and relief. They’ve been used for generations for a reason.

Want to Start? Keep it Simple.

  • Check Your Products: Read the labels. Ditch anything with harsh chemicals. Web sites like EWG's Skin Deep offer ingredient information and analysis.

  • Start Small: Replace one product at a time with a natural alternative.

  • Add Intention: Light a candle, take a breath, slow your hands and your mind will follow. Make it a ritual.

  • Eat and Drink Well: Hydration and whole foods make a bigger difference than you think.

  • Be Patient: Patch test first and give your skin time to adjust—it’s worth it.

Holistic skincare is more than a routine—it’s a daily reminder to care for yourself with intention. It’s a way to reconnect with what’s real, natural, and sustaining. Whether you’re in the city, on the farm, or somewhere in between, this kind of care travels with you—and it brings you home to yourself.
